Research Participants Across the LifeSpan

Are you over 60 and interested in Research Opportunities at Penn State?
Research Participants Across the Life Span (PALS) is an initiative that seeks to connect individuals in the community with research activities at Penn State. There is a wide variety of interesting research projects at Penn State!  For example, some projects examine how personality and emotional expression influence your health, the importance of exercise and nutrition in promoting healthy aging, and how the brain adapts in response to the aging process. Many adults find that participating in research can be fun, insightful, and provide a sense of having contributed to important advances in science.  Some research projects also provide payment to participants to compensate them for their time and travel expenses.

How do I learn more? When you join Research PALS, you will provide us with your name, birthdates, and your contact information.  This information is kept in a secure database and is shared only with PSU researchers who are conducting studies approved by the University’s Office for Research Protections.  A researcher will contact you if you are eligible for a study to tell you more about their project.  Research projects may last as little as one hour or as long as several years; the researcher will tell you the amount of time involved before you agree to participate. Participation is always optional, you determine your level of involvement and you may remain in the database for future projects or have your name removed at any time. You may register for Research PALS by completing the online form on the participate tab.
